Sakura Wood Butter Knife
The Sakura Wood Butter Knife is a simple and versatile table tool designed for spreading butter, jam, soft cheeses, and pâté with ease. Its smooth wooden edge glides gently across bread, making everyday breakfasts and shared meals feel a little more special.
Slightly larger than many butter knives, it feels comfortable and secure in the hand. The rounded handle gives the tool a soft, charming appearance while providing an easy grip for everyday use at the table.
Crafted by Miyajima Kougei Seisakujo, a woodworking workshop founded in 1890 on Miyajima Island in Hiroshima, each piece is shaped from Japanese yamazakura (mountain cherry wood), valued for its strength, smooth grain, and the beautiful character it develops over time.
A Simple Tool for the Table
Designed for spreading butter smoothly, the knife is equally useful for soft cheeses, pâté, jam, and other spreads. The gentle wooden edge glides easily across bread without tearing it.
The Character of Sakura Wood
Japanese yamazakura has a distinctive feel—smooth and gentle to the touch while remaining firm and resilient. Because the wood is finished without synthetic coatings, it gradually deepens in color and develops a richer tone through regular use.
Comfortable and Easy to Hold
The rounded handle sits naturally in the hand, making the knife comfortable to use whether spreading butter in the morning or serving cheeses at the table.

Japanese Yamazakura (Mountain Cherry Wood), Natural Uncoated Finish
Wash gently with mild soap and water after use. Do not soak for extended periods or place in the dishwasher. Dry thoroughly before storing and avoid prolonged exposure to heat or direct sunlight.
Because these tools are made from natural sakura wood and finished without synthetic coatings, the surface may gradually change with use. If the wood grain becomes slightly raised over time, it can be gently smoothed with fine sandpaper.
