Sakura Wood Angled Rice Paddle
The Sakura Wood Angled Rice Paddle is designed to scoop and serve rice smoothly from the pot. The angled edge helps gather rice easily, making it especially useful for reaching the bottom of rice cookers or pots while keeping the grains light and fluffy.
The handle is shaped for a comfortable grip, allowing the paddle to sit naturally in the hand. The tip of the angled head helps collect rice efficiently, making serving simple and satisfying.
Crafted by Miyajima Kougei Seisakujo, a woodworking workshop founded in 1890 on Miyajima Island in Hiroshima, each piece is shaped from Japanese yamazakura (mountain cherry wood)—a hardwood valued for its strength, smooth grain, and the beautiful character it develops over time.
A Tool Rooted in Japanese Rice Culture
Rice paddles have long been an essential utensil in Japanese kitchens. Their wide surface lifts rice gently, helping preserve the texture of freshly cooked grains while making serving easy and precise.
Designed for Easy Scooping
The angled head allows rice to be gathered naturally from the pot, while the comfortable handle provides control when serving. This thoughtful shape makes everyday tasks in the kitchen feel effortless.
The Character of Sakura Wood
Japanese yamazakura has a distinctive feel—smooth and gentle to the touch while remaining firm and resilient. Because the wood is finished without synthetic coatings, it gradually deepens in color and develops a richer tone with regular use.

Japanese Yamazakura (Mountain Cherry Wood), Natural Uncoated Finish
Wash gently with mild soap and water after use. Do not soak or place in the dishwasher. Dry thoroughly before storing and avoid prolonged exposure to heat or direct sunlight.
Because these tools are made from natural sakura wood without synthetic coatings, the surface may gradually change with use. If the grain becomes slightly raised over time, it can be gently smoothed with fine sandpaper.
For rice paddles, lightly wetting the surface before use can help prevent rice from sticking.
