Nankei Chasaji — Brass Tea Scoop
A brass chasaji made by Nankei, sized to fit inside the lid of the Nankei tea caddy. Thin enough to slide through loose tea leaves without crushing them. Uncoated brass, so the color deepens with use.
- Uncoated brass. Develops natural patina with use.
- Thin profile. Slides through loose tea leaves without crushing them.
- Stores inside the caddy. Fits between the inner and outer lids of the Nankei tea caddy.
- Hairline finish. Intentional surface texture, not scratches.
The brass isn't sealed. As you use the scoop, oils on your fingers and moisture in the air combine to slowly deepen the color. Each one develops its own patina.
Rather than living in a drawer, the scoop rests inside the tea caddy itself, between the inner and outer lids. A small storage detail that keeps the two tools together.
A note on the brass. The scoop is thin and light on purpose, but a hard drop can bend or dent it. That's part of the material being what it is.
A small brass scoop that ages alongside the caddy it belongs to.
