Karmi Moto Tea Canister
The Karmi Moto Tea Canister is crafted by Gato Mikio Shoten, a woodworking house founded in 1908 in Ishikawa Prefecture and known for its refined Yamanaka lacquerware.
Carved from a single block of Mizume, a Japanese cherry birch, the Moto features the traditional Sensuji technique—fine vertical stripes cut into the surface. This meticulous woodworking method creates a subtle texture that adds visual rhythm while providing a secure grip when handling the canister.
Inside the canister is a fitted inner lid that sits snugly against the walls of the container. This traditional double-lid design helps limit air and humidity, preserving the aroma and freshness of tea leaves, coffee beans, or matcha powder.
With its balanced cylindrical form and finely textured surface, the Moto brings together careful craftsmanship and practical storage for everyday use.
