A Traditional Edo Broom Built for Upright, Effortless Sweeping
Handcrafted in Tokyo by the renowned Shirokiya Denbei workshop, this Premium Long Handle Edo Broom represents one of Japan’s most respected broom-making traditions. Using the historic Edo splitting technique—where each natural stalk is finely separated by hand—artisans create soft, flexible bristles that glide smoothly across the floor.
With its tall handle and balanced weight, this broom allows you to sweep in a fully upright posture, reducing strain while covering larger areas with ease. It’s a tool designed for both everyday comfort and enduring craftsmanship.
Why This Broom Is Special
-
Traditional Edo Craftsmanship
Made using the centuries-old Edo splitting technique that softens each stalk naturally—no cutting, no synthetic fibers. -
Upright Comfort
The long handle allows sweeping while standing tall, offering better posture and a more relaxed cleaning experience. -
Soft, Floor-Safe Bristles
The split fibers are gentle enough for wood, tile, and tatami, gliding without scratching or dragging. -
Natural Wax Effect
The fibers contain natural oils that leave floors—especially wood and tatami—with a soft, subtle sheen. -
Smooth, Quiet Movement
Flexible bristles move in a calm, sweeping flow, reducing dust scatter and keeping your space peaceful. -
Lightweight but Sturdy
Balanced construction makes wide-area sweeping easier and more satisfying. -
Timeless Japanese Craft Heritage
Shirokiya Denbei is one of Tokyo’s most respected Edo broom makers, continuing a lineage over 200 years old.
Perfect Pairing
This broom works beautifully with our Harimi Dustpans, creating a smooth, quiet, and efficient sweeping set. The debris naturally follows the movement of the long fibers into the Harimi for easy cleanup.
Also Available in a Short Handle Version
Prefer a smaller broom for tighter spaces, staircases, or low-angle sweeping?
Our Classic Short Handle Edo Broom offers the same craftsmanship in a compact size—perfect for tatami rooms, entryways, and small apartments.
A Statement of Craft, Comfort, and Everyday Use
Beautiful, quiet, and made to last, this long-handle Edo broom turns daily sweeping into a comfortable ritual rooted in centuries of Japanese tradition.
