Japan loves goldfish, particularly during the summer, when goldfish-scooping games have always been popular at summer festivals.

Goldfish were first introduced to Japanese people around 500 years ago. During those times, they were considered a luxury item and were kept only by wealthy merchants and feudal samurai lords. Goldfish come in various colors, including red, white, gold, and black. The red color of goldfish was thought to ward off evil, while the gold color was thought to represent wealth accumulation.

Please wash thoroughly in warm water by hand before the first use to remove the starch. They use natural sweet potato starch from Kagoshima prefecture in Japan. Soak in hot water at 40 degrees to let the starch soften. Rinse until water comes out clean.
