Import Duties and Taxes
We’re happy to send our products from Japan to customers all over the world.
Because every country has its own rules for imports, your order might have duties, taxes, or fees added by your local customs office when it arrives.
These charges are set by your country and are paid directly to customs or the delivery carrier. Most of our customers find the process simple — but we’ve included some guidance below so you’ll know what to expect.
What to Expect
Most countries apply some form of tax or duty on international shipments, especially if the order value is above a certain amount.
Thresholds vary by country — for example:
-
- The U.S. currently allows most shipments under USD 800 duty‑free (though this is changing in 2025)
- Canada applies GST/HST/PST to many imports, and duties for higher-value items
- Australia adds 10% GST to all imports, with duties for orders over AUD 1,000
- The EU collects VAT on all imports, and duties for items over €150
- Other regions — like Singapore, the UK, Hong Kong, and more — each have their own rules.
Some countries also add a small processing or handling fee collected by the postal service or courier.

A Note on Responsibility
Customs duties and taxes are a normal part of international shopping. If your country applies them, the payment goes directly to your customs office or delivery carrier.
If a package is refused and returned to us because these fees weren’t paid, we can refund the cost of the items (minus shipping) once it’s back in our hands.
