Shipping, Duties & Delivery
What You Pay at Checkout Is Final
Ordering from Japan can feel uncertain.
People often wonder: Will I be charged customs? Will a courier ask me for money? Will my package get stuck?
With The Wabi Sabi Shop, what you see at checkout is what you pay. For almost every order we send worldwide, we prepay the duties, taxes, and import fees on our side before your package even leaves Japan. Your parcel clears customs smoothly and arrives at your door without any extra steps, paperwork, or surprise charges.
The only time this is different
A small number of oversized items cannot travel through our usual courier service because of their size. These must be sent by Japan Post EMS instead.
This applies only to:
- All Shuro and Edo brooms
- Harimi Dustpan (Large size), when shipped outside of the United States
For United States orders, EMS shipments include prepaid duties and taxes through our Zonos Prepay service. What you pay at checkout is final.
For orders to Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand, customs charges are rare due to existing trade agreements with Japan.
For orders to other countries, EMS shipments may be subject to local duties or taxes on arrival, paid to your country's customs authority on delivery.
One note on the full-size brooms (Japanese Shuro Broom Full Size 125cm and Shirokiya Denbei Edo Japanese Broom Premium Long Handle): due to length restrictions on those routes, they cannot be shipped to Spain, Denmark, or Germany. The shorter handle versions are available worldwide.
When the Harimi Dustpan (both Large and Small sizes) is shipped to the United States, it travels by FedEx and all duties and import fees are prepaid by us.
Everything else in our shop ships through our regular courier service with duties covered on our side.
