Handcrafted Elegance for Your Tea Storage

Karmi is a hand-crafted tea canister with a contemporary minimalistic shape that fits in your hand. Karmi is a name inspired by one of the Haiku poetries. It means “lightness.”

  • Handcrafted Excellence  Each canister is hand-sculpted by artisans in Yamanaka, Ishikawa Prefecture.
  • Unique Sensuji Technique  Countless stripes on the surface, known as “Sensuji (a thousand streaks),” produce exquisite textures and double as a non-slip surface.
  • Airtight Seal  The inner cap seals the canister, keeping it airtight and protecting the tea leaves from humidity and temperature.
  • Premium Materials  Handcrafted from a single piece of the finest wood, ensuring durability and elegance.
  • Historical Craftsmanship  Made by Gato Miko Shoten, a family woodworking house with over 100 years of history.
  • Handcrafted in Japan  Made with exceptional craftsmanship in Ishikawa Prefecture.

Founded in 1908 in Ishikawa Prefecture, Gato Miko Shoten is a family woodworking house with over 100 years of history. All of their items are handcrafted from a single piece of wood and are made from the finest timbers. The Karmi Tea Canister combines elegance and functionality, conveying the charm of Yamanaka lacquerware.

The unique Sensuji technique used to create countless stripes on the surface not only produces exquisite textures but also serves as a non-slip surface. The inner cap seals the canister, keeping it airtight and protecting the tea leaves from humidity and temperature.
