Matcha bowls (Chawan) are designed for whisking and sipping matcha (powdered green tea). To froth matcha, move a Chasen (bamboo whisk) like writing the letter "W" in a matcha bowl.

You can serve matcha, tea, chai, latte, hot chocolate, cereal, yogurt, soup, salad, and other items in this tea bowl. It's extremely versatile. 

Shigaraki ware (also known as Shigaraki yaki in Japanese) is pottery produced in Shiga prefecture's Shigaraki area. Shigaraki ware is one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan. It is regarded as one of the most outstanding Japanese kilns, along with Bizen, Tamba, Echizen, Seto, and Tokoname, with traditions that continue to this day. It is estimated to have a 1,260-year history.
