Japanese Denim — The denim that only improve with age

I wanted to share something I’ve been really into lately — Japanese Denim.

Japanese denim is known for its exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. It has a rich history that dates back to the early 1900s.

They are typically made from premium, raw selvedge denim, and are woven on traditional shuttle looms. This results in a sturdy and durable fabric that will only improve with age.

Another thing that makes Japanese denim special is the unique textures and fading patterns it develops over time. With proper care, it will develop a unique patina that is unique to the wearer.

In recent years, Japanese denim has become increasingly popular around the world due to its exceptional craftsmanship and unique characteristics. Okayama is known as a center for quality Japanese denim, with many mills and brands based there.

Brands like Evisu, Momotaro, and Oni Denim are known for producing some of the highest-quality denim out there.

Our kids are all crazy about Evisu Jeans. We went to the Evisu store in Tokyo last summer. We had the great fortune of watching the store manager paint the iconic seagull logo on their jeans. He told us that the paint color is called “Tokyo Blue” and can only be found in Tokyo stores. We bought a few pairs of jeans and can't wait to see how the beautiful denim color changes over time!
